Today I'm going to talk about The 'BEAST'. When I say beast only one thing can come to your mind and that is The All-New Mercedes Benz G Class. Yes, the next gen G Class is out. Mercedes has gone way ahead.
Mercedes have kept the design simple and sleek. They have retained the original boxy G-class body. The changes on the front include all LED headlights a new bumper and sleek grille. On the rear there is a slightly new taillight design which are also LED. They have kept the Iconic turn indicators on the bonnet. The tyre size have been increased to 20'inches. The ground clearance has been increased by 6 mm. The wheelbase is increased by a whopping 120mm which means there will be more space on the inside. The car is 170 kg more lighter than the previous car but is more rigid. Infact Mercedes claims it is 50% more rigid than the previous gen. The side profile of the car has been accentuated by matte black plastics with chrome inserts. Speaking of the drive train the G wagon is powered by a 4.2 litre biturbo V8. It puts out 424 bhp of power. Now you might think it's a little underpowered, but wait till you here the torque. It has a mind blowing 610nm of torque which starts from 2200rpm and goes on.
Moving on to the inside, the interior is based on the S-class. We see a similar type of screen ornamentation. Two tweeters are placed on top of the dashboard similar to the indicators on the bonnet. The iconic grab handle is retained. Mercedes has ensured that an icon always remain an icon. The front seats have spot on bolstering. The seats are wrapped up in Alcantara leather.
You get the 16- speakers Burmester Sound Surround. Ambient Lighting with 64 different colours. A Panasonic sunroof increases the sense of roominess .The rear seat is more wider now. The legroom is more than adequate. The bootspace is larger than before. It houses the powered tailgate.
The price is yet to be revealed. The G- Class was unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show on January 15, 2018. It is expected to be launched in India around end of 2018. It is expected to be priced above INR 2 CR. Just like previous generation this G Class will spawn models like G63 6×6, G500 AMG, and G MAYBACH landaulet.
When Mercedes say ," it's built like a tank" they mean it.
