Now the Jeep have come up with a car to cater to customers looking for midsize SUVs. Yes! I'm talking about the Jeep Compass. This car hosts the signature JEEP seven inserts grill. This car look pretty much like the 1 cr Jeep Grand Cherokee. This car does stand out in terms of design with it's competitors.
Now Let's continue the review and find out how good it's in terms of the interior and drive. Well,as soon as you step inside the Jeep Compass you realise these seats are quite comfortable and quite supportive. They are pretty large and can house 6ft passengers with ease. The cushioning is spot on. So in terms of comfort and offering good amount of relaxation the compass is top class in the front seat department. Well now in terms of equipment it is a mixed bag because even though you get traction control, multiple airbags, electronic stability program, electronic handbrake. Surprisingly it offers you only a seven inch touchscreen while the Hyundai Tucson and VW tiguan offers you bigger screens and.. It's not the easiest to operate also cruise control is missing over here. Well over all quality is pretty decent. The top of the dashboard and the top of the doorbar is made of soft plastics. There is a certain amount of premiumness about this cabin because you get dual tone interiors. In terms of utility the compass falls behind it's other rivals. It does get the big box in the centre but there are only two cup holders in the centre and no place for the small bits. The doorbins can also house only half litre bottles. Some of the switches don't offers that tactile feel which the rivals do. Moving into the rear seats, the under thigh support is best even for six foot passengers. Legroom is decent. The seats are wide enough for three passengers even though there is small hump of the centre tunnel. The aperture of door is quite wide which means getting in and out of the car is an easy task. There are rear AC vents too. The boot is squarish in shape and quite deep too. The loading sill is not very high.
The Jeep Compass comes with two engine options. A 2 litre diesel as well a a 1.4 turbocharged petrol. The diesel engine makes about 300nm of torque while the petrol makes a respectable 250nm of torque. The diesel engine pumps out 170 bhp while the petrol engine pumps 260 bhp of powers. The diesel engine is mated to a six speed manual and the petrol engine is mated to six speed manual and seven speed automatic which means the automatic is available only in petrol version. The suspension set up on the compass is slightly on the firmer side so some of the potholes and rumbler strips will enter the cabin at slow city speeds but on the highway this car smothers out all the bad pitched roads. This car comes with 4 wheel drive setup. It comes with four modes auto, mud, sand, snow. Compass can tackle anything that comes in it's ways
. In all it is a decent car at decent price tag.The car is launched in the Indian market starting at Rs 16 lakhs ex showroom. So checkout the new Jeep Compass at your nearest dealership.
